Philly Cheesesteak Dip – All the flavors of the classic sandwich in a hot, cheesy dip. Loaded with tender steak, peppers, onions, and melty provolone, it’s the perfect crowd-pleaser for game day or any party spread.
Some snacks just feel like they were made for game day, and this Philly Cheesesteak Dip is one of them. It’s got everything you’d expect from the classic sandwich—tender beef, melty provolone, and peppers—just scooped up with bread instead of tucked into a roll.

I usually set it out alongside finger food favorites like Boneless Chicken Wings and Air Fryer Potato Skins, and it disappears fast. It’s hot, cheesy, and hearty enough to keep everyone hanging out by the snack table until halftime.

How To Make Philly Cheesesteak Dip
- Season and sear the steak – Toss the sliced steak with salt and pepper, then cook it in olive oil until browned.
- Cook the vegetables – Add onion and bell pepper to the pan, sautéing until softened and fragrant.
- Combine and melt the cheeses – Stir in milk and cream cheese until smooth, then add provolone and let it melt into the mixture.
- Finish and serve – Keep the dip warm and serve immediately with cubes of bread for dipping.

Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Slice steak very thin – The thinner the beef, the faster it cooks and the easier it blends into the creamy dip. Freezing the steak for 10–15 minutes makes slicing easier.
- Use a sturdy bread – A crusty baguette or Italian loaf holds up better for dipping than softer breads, so it won’t fall apart in the warm cheese.
- Swap the cheese – Provolone is classic, but mozzarella or white American cheese can be used for a milder, extra-melty dip.
- Add mushrooms – Sautéed mushrooms bring another layer of cheesesteak flavor and bulk up the dip.
- Keep it warm – If serving for a party, transfer the dip to a small slow cooker on the warm setting to keep it gooey and dippable.
- Make it spicier – Add diced jalapeños or a pinch of red pepper flakes to the veggie mix for a little kick.
- Serve with more than bread – Try sturdy tortilla chips, pita chips, or even mini bell peppers as dippers.
- Prep ahead – Cook the steak, veggies, and sauce base in advance, then reheat gently with the cheese right before serving.

Storage
Transfer the finished dip to a small slow cooker on the warm setting, stirring occasionally to keep it smooth and melty. If you have leftovers you can cover and place in the fridge for 3-4 days. To reheat you can use a saucepan on the stovetop, a crockpot, the oven or the microwave. You can add a little milk if necessary to loosen it up.
So if you are looking for a new appetizer to try, this is it! Cheesy and filled with chunks of tender steak….you really can’t beat it!
