This Buffalo Chicken Salad is bold, spicy, and packed with flavor! It is a fun and tasty twist on your classic chicken salad for great meal prep, lunch or on the go meal.
Buffalo Chicken Salad is the perfect twist. It combines shredded chicken with spicy buffalo sauce, crunchy celery, and a creamy dressing for the ultimate flavor-packed upgrade.

I love having Healthy Chicken Salad in my fridge for quick lunches during the week. But sometimes you just want something a little different. This creamy buffalo chicken salad is definitely the answer. You can serve it as a sandwich, stuffing it in lettuce cups or a wrap, or enjoying it straight from the bowl with crackers.
Rotisserie Chicken Salad is something I make often after a trip to the store when I can get a fresh rotisserie chicken. But adding a little buffalo sauce and ranch seasoning to the mix takes it to a whole new level. It is still creamy and crunchy, but has the spice and seasoning to make it anything but boring!

What You’ll Need
Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post for the FULL PRINTABLE recipe card.
- Shredded Chicken – you can use a store bought rotisserie chicken or any other cooked chicken that you like. Even canned chicken works great for this.
- Celery
- Red Onion
- Mayo
- Buffalo Sauce
- Ranch Dressing Mix – you can use part of a packet or you can make your own Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix and always have some on hand.

How To Make Buffalo Chicken Salad
- Make Dressing. In a small bowl whisk together mayo, buffalo sauce and the ranch seasoning until smooth and well combined.
- Mix. Add the chicken, celery and onion to a bowl. Pour over the dressing and mix to combine.
- Serve. You can serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge.
How To Serve
This is served just like BLT Chicken Salad or Curry Chicken Salad. It is super versatile and works great if you are trying to cut carbs or just want a hearty sandwich.
- Sandwich – This is great served on sliced bread (I like to toast it), a toasted English Muffin or even a hamburger bun.
- Wrap – This is probably my go to, I like to use a low carb/high fiber tortilla. Or a regular tortilla/wrap works well too.
- Salad – serve over a bed of greens for a great salad. The greens give it great crunch and texture.
- Dip – I love dipping crackers in chicken salad. Triscuits or a thick cracker work great to scoop up the chicken salad. Or you could use celery or carrot sticks.

Recipe Tips & Suggestions
- Chicken. This works great with a rotisserie chicken, but you can really use any cooked chicken. Canned chicken or leftover chicken are perfectly fine.
- Mayo. Chicken salad often uses mayo, and this is no exception. But you can definitely swap plain Greek yogurt for the mayo and you won’t be able to tell the difference. You add enough buffalo sauce, you just need something that makes it creamy.
- Storage. Cover or place in an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 4 days. It is really great to make and have ready for lunches during the week.
- Add Cheese. Blue cheese is a polarizing ingredient, but it is classic for buffalo chicken. You can add blue cheese crumbles to the mix or serve with blue cheese dressing drizzled over the top. If blue cheese isn’t your thing, adding cheddar cheese is a great swap.
- Cool It Down. Serve with a Homemade Ranch Dressing or Creamy Garlic Dressing on the side so you can dip or drizzle over the top to cut down on the spice.
