Crockpot Country Style Ribs are the ultimate comfort food made easy. They involve super minimal prep and just a few simple ingredients. The slow cooker does all the work, transforming these meaty ribs into tender ribs that practically melt in your mouth.

Making country style ribs in the crockpot are great if you are feeding a hungry family, have a full house of people or are just craving something hearty and satisfying. This really is a super easy recipe that delivers big BBQ flavor without firing up the grill.
You can find country style ribs; both bone-in and boneless in almost all grocery stores, and they tend to be a relatively affordable cut of meat. You can also use your favorite store bought sauce or my Homemade Barbecue Sauce is a great option. It really is up to you. If you like it on the sweeter side Coca Cola BBQ Sauce is a great option as well.

What You’ll Need
Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post for the FULL PRINTABLE recipe card.
- Country Style Ribs – I like to use boneless, but you can use bone-in if that is what you have
- Dry Rub – really any spice blend works, The Best Dry Rub is a great balance of sweet and smoky, and gives great flavor, especially when you aren’t firing up the grill.
- Onion – these cook down and help give a sweetness to the meat as well as moisture so everything is juicy and delicious.
- Chicken Broth
- Liquid Smoke
- Barbecue Sauce

How To Make Crockpot Country Style Ribs
- Season. Sprinkle the dry rub evenly over each of the country style ribs until they are evenly coated.
- Arrange. Place the sliced onions in the base of your crockpot. Arrange the country style ribs over the top.
- Broth. Mix together chicken broth and liquid smoke, pour around the ribs.
- Cook. Cover and cook on low for about 6 hours, or until the ribs are tender and easy to shred with a fork. If they are tough, continue to cook for longer.
- Finish. Remove the ribs from the crockpot and use 2 forks to shred. To serve you can mix the pork back with the juice or toss with the barbecue sauce.

Recipe Tips & Suggestions
- Rib Type. I prefer to use boneless ribs for this, but bone-in absolutely work. The cook time will be very similar, I just find the bone-in a little harder to work with and shred the meat.
- Cook Time. If you want pulled pork like what is shown, it will take about 6 hours. If you want more like a roast that you slice, the pork will be safe to eat after about 4 hours. I do not like to cook country style ribs on high, as I think the pork dries out and doesn’t get nearly as tender.
- Seasoning. You really can use whatever spice blend that you like. If you have a jar of something in the pantry, go for it. I have included a smaller version of my favorite spice rub to use here, but I always have a larger one in the pantry to use all summer long.
- Doneness. You will know the pork is done when you can easily pull it apart with a fork. After about 5 hours you can test and see how much longer it needs. If it is still tough, check again in 45 minutes.

Serving Suggestions
I like to serve country style ribs in the crockpot like I would Smoked Baby Back Ribs, with all the traditional sides! The Best Cornbread, Baked Beans, Coleslaw or even Mac and Cheese are all musts when having barbecue.
You can also serve with Easy Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad or Mashed Potatoes for an epic spread.
Storage
Once the pork as cooled you can store your country style ribs in an airtight container for up to 4 days. It is great to reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop to add to tacos, sandwiches, quesadillas and more.
Freezing
If you have a lot of meat leftover, it is great to freeze. Store in an airtight container for up to 4 months. You can thaw overnight in the fridge before serving.
