How To Make Slow Cooker Baked Potatoes

  • Prep. Make sure to thoroughly wash you potatoes and get all of the dirt off. Then pierce them well with a fork so some steam can escape.
  • Rub. Generously coat the potatoes with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  • Cook. Place the potatoes into the base of the crockpot, cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  • Serve. Once the potatoes are soft, and you can easily cut through them remove from the crockpot and serve with butter and sour cream or whatever you enjoy.

Recipe Tips & Suggestions

  • Cook Time. The time it takes to cook potatoes can vary greatly depending on the size of the potato. Try to pick potatoes that are a similar size, so they will cook in the same amount of time.
  • Doneness. Because the cook time can vary so much, it is best to just check to see when they are done. Once you can easily insert a fork into the potatoes they are done. You can serve immediately or change your crockpot to warm until you are ready.
  • Crispy Skin. The potatoes that are directly touching the crockpot can get a little crispiness in that spot, but if you like your skin crispier, you can place them on a baking sheet and put them under the broiler for a few minutes.
  • Large Crowd. The recipe is written using 4 potatoes, but you really can add as many as can comfortably fit in your crockpot. They do not need to be in a single layer like they would in an air fryer.

Serving Suggestions

Just like any baked potato you have ever had, it is great served alongside Onion Soup Meatloaf, Baked Caesar Chicken, Pork Tenderloin or even Baked Ribs.

But you can also set up a potato bar and top with whatever you like! Taco Meat, Crispy Bacon, Pulled Pork, BBQ Beef, and pretty much anything else you can come up with.
